SCAFFOLDING BEST PRACTICE #31: Environmental Loads
As this winter has proven, Access Scaffolds can be seriously affected by detrimental vertical and horizontal loads caused by their environment. This includes: weather (wind, snow, ice, water, etc.) vibration, and the buildup of process materials on scaffold platforms, foundations and access systems. The CSA S269.2-16 Access Scaffold Standard requires that all potential environmental loads are evaluated and that the scaffold is designed WITH FACTORS OF SAFETY to withstand all likely environmental loads. Finally, once erected, the access scaffold will need to be inspected, managed and maintained to prevent excessive damage, weakening or buildup caused by environmental loads.
