SCAFFOLDING BEST PRACTICE #12: Lanyard Parking Points
It is imperative that all users of “double leg” lanyards that feature a single energy absorber also utilize LANYARD PARKING POINTS when parking the unused lanyard leg on their harnesses. IF the worker were to have a fall arrest while one lanyard leg was attached to a solid point of the harness – (i.e. chest strap, sternal ring, etc.) the single energy absorber would get “short circuited” and not deploy properly (and possibly even break apart!). Many harness manufacturers are now including these points as standard equipment OR you can by after market lanyard “keepers” and install them yourself.
