SCAFFOLDING BEST PRACTICE #22 – Performing Competent Inspections
Every North American safety regulation requires regular inspections of scaffolding equipment – some daily, some pre-shift, etc. These inspections need to be detailed and documented (at least on the scaffold tag) for the protection of the scaffold users and operators. MOST IMPORTANTLY, these critical inspections are not mere formalities, nor are they simply paperwork that can be “pencil whipped”. Scaffold inspections MUST be performed by trained, certified, experienced, competent persons in a deliberate, careful and diligent manner!
